"The Town of Laurentian Hills is committed to the tenets of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act ( the Act). The Town is committed to upholding the standards of privacy established within the Act and to providing individuals with the right of access to information in its custody and control including most general records as well as records containing their own personal information, where applicable. The Town will provide information when ever posible with out anyone needingto use the formal Freedom of Information request process. In actual fact the Town does not maintain files on idividuals as a general practice.

The Town does however caution that if letters or information is presented to Council or its Committees of the Whole that those meetings are open public meetings, once the Council has dealt with the presented information it becomes part of the public record and may be given to any requester provided it does not release personal information."
